Description
We Can’t Take Life For Granted is a soulful and reflective album from Eugene Blacknell, blending elements of soul, folk, gospel, and roots music with deeply personal storytelling. Released in 2007 as a 2LP pressing, the record centres on themes of perseverance, self-reflection, and lived experience, delivered with warmth, honesty, and emotional clarity.
The album’s organic production and live-feeling arrangements shine, giving space to Blacknell’s expressive vocals and thoughtful song writing. It’s a record that rewards close listening and feels especially at home on an analogue format.
Standout tracks such as “We Can’t Take Life For Granted”, and “The Trip” highlight the album’s balance of introspection and quiet uplift, reinforcing Blacknell’s strength as a storyteller and soul-inflected songwriter.
