U2
Pop Cassette
Description
Issued for the Saudi Arabian and Gulf Cooperation Council market, this rare cassette release of Pop documents U2’s fearless leap into electronic-driven rock. Pop is the band’s ninth studio album, released in 1997, and marked a bold phase in their sound, incorporating alternative rock with dance, techno and electronic influences.
This GCC / Saudi Arabian cassette edition is distinguished by its regional release and scarcity today, making it especially desirable for collectors of U2 memorabilia and international pressings. The album blends adventurous production with some of the group’s most memorable late-’90s songs, including “Discothèque,” “Staring at the Sun,” “Last Night on Earth,” “Please,” and “If God Will Send His Angels.”
Released on Island Records, Pop reflects U2’s experimentation during the PopMart era, and this cassette presents the album in authentic analog tape format. A nostalgic throwback to when cassettes were still a primary medium for music distribution.
